Start early (midnight to 2 am) heading northwest to the summit between Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. Ascend through scree to Stella Point on the crater rim. It's mentally and physically challenging. Take a short rest at Stella Point and witness a magnificent sunrise. Faster climbers may see the sunrise from the summit. Continue for about an hour through snow to reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and Africa! Descend straight to Mweka Camp, stopping at Barafu for lunch.
