The trail now leads westward, meandering through a picturesque river gorge until we reach the Shira campsite. As we gain elevation, the temperature starts to drop, reminding us that we are approaching the moorland zone.

On this crucial day for acclimatization, we venture eastward from Shira Plateau, ascending a ridge that leads us to the junction towards the Kibo peak. Continuing southeast, we encounter the magnificent Lava Tower, a volcanic formation also known as the "Shark's Tooth" standing tall at an elevation of 4650m/15,250ft. After passing the Lava Tower, we come across another junction leading to the Arrow Glacier. From there, we descend to the Barranco Camp where we spend the night, surrounded by breathtaking semi-desert landscapes.

As we ascend towards Stella Point on the crater rim, the breathtaking sunrise greets us, offering a sense of awe and accomplishment. Depending on the pace, some may witness the sunrise from the summit itself. After capturing memories and celebrating our triumph, we descend to Mweka Camp through snow-covered terrain, and with each step, we leave the glaciers behind, descending to an altitude of 3106m/10,190ft.
