Day 2 : Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut 2nd Day of Kilimanjaro Climbing

After a restful night continue your ascent through heath land, spotting unique vegetation and enjoying views of Mawenzi. Trek for approximately 11 kilometers, reaching an elevation of 2,740m to 3,690m. Horombo Hut will be your resting place for the night.

Day 3 : Climbing Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

Leave Horombo Huts and enter a moonscape as you make your way to the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Enjoy lunch with a view before crossing the large saddle. Climb for about 10 kilometers, climbing from 3,690m to 4,695m. Spend the night at Kibo Hut.

Day 4 : Kibo Huts to Summit, then back to Horombo Hut (14km up, 14km down)

Embark on the most challenging part of the trek, starting between midnight and 2 a.m. Ascend in a switchback pattern, facing scree and possibly snow, until you reach Gillman's Point on the crater rim. Take a short rest and witness a breathtaking sunrise. Push forward for about 1 more hour to reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Descend back to Kibo Huts for lunch and a brief rest before continuing to Horombo Hut. Overnight at Horombo Hut.
