Day 1  :  The Adventure Begins

Your journey to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro commences today. After your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our team will warmly welcome you and escort you to your designated hotel in the charming town of Moshi. Here, you'll meet your experienced guide, who will provide a comprehensive briefing about the upcoming climb. Your equipment will undergo a meticulous check to ensure you have all the essential mountain gear. At 8 am, we set off from Moshi, heading to the Umbwe Gate. This is where you'll meet our dedicated team of porters, guides, and cooks, who will accompany you on this epic six-day journey to Uhuru Peak, the magnificent summit of Africa. Upon arrival at the gate, we'll handle the necessary paperwork while our porters and guides make final preparations. Our first destination for the day is the Cave Bivouac Camp, also known as the Umbwe Cave Campsite.

Day 2  :  Cave Bivouac to Barranco Beauty

Our journey continues from Cave Bivouac, located at 2,850 meters, to the picturesque Barranco Camp, perched at an elevation of 3,950 meters. The initial part of the trail traces the ridge, and as we leave the forest behind, we venture into open moorlands. The landscape gradually transforms as we approach Barranco Camp, which is renowned for its stunning surroundings adorned with towering Senecio and lobelia plants. Since Barranco Camp is nestled in a valley, the sunrise here offers a unique, slightly delayed spectacle compared to other camps.

After a nourishing breakfast at Barranco Camp, we embark on a thrilling adventure toward Karanga Valley, situated at an altitude of 4,200 meters. The day begins with a challenging 1.5-hour scramble up the formidable Barranco Wall. In some sections, you might need to use your hands to aid your ascent. Once you conquer this ascent, you'll traverse relatively level terrain before making a short but steep descent into the lush Karanga River Valley.

Leaving Karanga Valley after breakfast, our path leads us to Barafu Camp, perched at an elevation of 4,600 meters. The day kicks off with another challenging scramble up the Barranco Wall, lasting about 1.5 hours. Some sections may require a hands-on approach to conquer. Once we reach the summit of the wall, the trail levels out, offering a respite from the steep ascent. We then make a brief but steep descent into the lush green expanse of the Karanga River Valley.

Day 6  :  The Summit Beckons

Today marks the pinnacle of your journey as we set out from Barafu Camp, located at 4,600 meters, to conquer Uhuru Peak, standing tall at an impressive 5,895 meters (19,340 feet). Around midnight, under the guidance of your headlamp's glow, we commence the final ascent to Uhuru Peak. This leg of the journey is the most demanding, with a very steep trail leading to the crater rim, where Stella Point awaits. The hike from Stella Point to Uhuru Peak is a gradual climb, not particularly difficult in terms of terrain. However, the high altitude makes it a long and strenuous endeavor. The crater rim hike typically takes about an hour. Upon reaching Uhuru Peak, be sure to capture memorable photos of your guide and group against the backdrop of this magnificent summit. Afterward, we begin our descent towards Mweka Camp. During the descent from Uhuru, soak in the breathtaking views of the mountain, the crater, the billowing clouds, and the gleaming glaciers.

Day 7  :  Descent to Mweka Gate and Farewell

In the morning, after a hearty breakfast, you'll begin your descent towards Mweka Gate, situated at 1,640 meters. The trek is a pleasant one, winding through the lower slopes of the rainforest. Covering a distance of 9 kilometers (approximately 5.5 miles), the descent typically takes 3-4 hours. Assuming you've successfully reached Stella Point or Uhuru Peak, you'll be presented with official certificates – a green certificate for the former and a prestigious gold certificate for the latter. It's customary to express your appreciation to your trekking crew with a tip before being transported back to your hotel in Moshi.
