Data Protection

Privacy Policy

Your trust is our most valuable asset. This policy outlines how Africa Go Trip protects your personal data and ensures a secure booking environment across our marketplace.

Last Updated: March 2024

Africa Go Trip operates as a Multi-Vendor Marketplace. In this capacity, we act as both a "Data Controller" for our platform and a facilitator for data transfer to our verified "Tour Operators" who fulfill your travel services.

1. Information We Collect

We only collect data that is essential for delivering a world-class safari experience. This includes:

  • Identity Data: Full name, date of birth, and passport copies (required by African national parks for trekking and entry permits).
  • Contact Data: Email address, phone number, and physical address.
  • Health & Logistics: Dietary requirements, medical conditions relevant to high-altitude trekking, and emergency contact details.
  • Transaction Data: Details about payments to and from you, and other details of services you have purchased through us.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your data is processed based on contractual necessity and legitimate business interests:

  • To process your booking and facilitate communication with your chosen operator.
  • To manage payments, fees, and charges through our secure escrow system.
  • To notify you about changes to your itinerary or our terms.
  • To improve our platform using data analytics to provide a more personalized browsing experience.

3. Data Sharing in a Multi-Vendor Environment

As a marketplace (OTA), sharing information is necessary to fulfill your trip:

  • To Tour Operators: We share your name, passport details, and preferences with the specific Operator you booked with. They are contractually forbidden from using this data for anything other than your specific trip.
  • To Legal Authorities: We may share data with government park authorities (e.g., TANAPA or KWS) for permit issuance.
  • Third-Party Services: We use reputable cloud providers and payment gateways (like Stripe or Direct Pay Online) to secure your data.

4. Our Security Standards

We implement a "Security-First" architecture to protect your information:

  • Encryption: All data in transit is protected via 256-bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption.
  • Payment Safety: We are PCI-DSS compliant. Africa Go Trip never stores your full credit card details on our local servers.
  • Access Control: Only authorized staff with "Need-to-Know" clearance can access sensitive traveler documentation.

5. Data Retention

We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements (typically 7 years for financial records).

6. Your Legal Rights

Depending on your location (such as the EU/UK), you have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request that we fix any incomplete or inaccurate data.
  • Erasure: Request the deletion of your account and personal history (The "Right to be Forgotten").
  • Object to Marketing: You can opt-out of our newsletters at any time via the "Unsubscribe" link.

7. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies to enhance your experience. These include Necessary Cookies (to keep you logged in) and Analytical Cookies (to see how you interact with our tour listings). You can manage cookie settings in your browser at any time.
